
Born on 4th June 1953 in Bombay, daughter of His Highness Dr. Karni Singh, Maharaja of Bikaner and Maharani Sushila Kumari, Princess Rajyashree stands unrivalled in target shooting. She was declared “Sportsperson of the year” and was awarded the much-coveted trophy “ARJUNA AWARD” in 1969 when she was only 16 years old. This award is the highest acclaim that India can give to its sportsmen and sportswomen for outstanding achievement.
Her other interests include the preservation of heritage properties and ancestral Forts and Palaces and Cenotaphs that belong to the Bikaner family. She is a Life member of the Indian National Trust for Art and Cultural Heritage (INTACH) and People for The Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA). She helped Maharaja Dr. Karni Singhji in setting up the Sadul Museum in Lallgarh Palace, Bikaner. She is working on many Projects concerning renovation and restoration of the Lallgarh Palace hotel, publishing of books i.e. the biographies of Maharaja Ganga Singhji, Maharaja Sadul Singhji and Maharaja Dr. Karni Singhji of Bikaner and matters related to the family history and properties, reprinting the old books and TV documentaries and films. She has authored two books – a coffee table book in 2009 titled “The Lallgarh Palace – Home of the Maharajas of Bikaner”and another book titled “Maharajas of Bikaner”. She is the Chairperson of Public Charitable Trusts set up by late Maharaja Dr. Karni Singhji that carries out numerous philanthropic activities. She founded a public charitable trust in 1999, “Maharaja Dr. Karni Singhji Memorial Foundation” in the memory of her late father.
